If you are looking for a great Thai restaurant in Alameda, Monkey Thai is one of my favorites if you are looking for a lunch combo that is worth your money. Located on Main Street, they have a parking lot outside. The restaurants used to look like a hole in the wall but they seem to have gone through some renovations which make it look more modern. I love visiting here for their lunch combos since it comes with an appetizer, a variety of entrees to choose from, a choice of meat, jasmine, or brown rice (doesn't come with it if you choose a noodle entree), and a drink. They have a great selection since you can choose from items like pad thai, pad see ew, garlic noodles, curry, and more. With the protein, the more expensive options are shrimp and seafood but you can still stay within the $13 range with just chicken, pork, beef, or tofu.

The combo I decided to go with is the fishcake, yellow curry with beef, jasmine rice, and Thai tea. The food came out pretty quick and was assembled nicely. I was obsessed with my curry since it was the perfect amount of spiciness and curry flavor. It came with potatoes, beef, carrots, and onions. There was plenty of shredded beef and the portions for the curry and rice complemented each other. I am usually picky with my Thai tea but was surprised to see that it was light and refreshing. My friend went with the chicken wings, beef pad si ew, and Thai tea. The chicken wings were more on the crispy side and paired well with the curry sauce. Pad see ew is a classic noodle dish paired with broccoli and beef and was delicious as well. Overall, we had a very enjoyable meal at Monkey Thai and I plan on coming back to try their other dishes.

The portions here are huge and a great value for the price. Get the combo because it fills you up and comes with a drink! I'm glad I found this restaurant and will be coming back for more Thai food goodness. The service was quick and servers were attentive. You can also call ahead to place an order if you do not want to dine in. They prepare all the items quickly so everything is usually ready in 10 - 15 minutes. Overall, Monkey Thai is a solid place for Thai food.
