According to an incident report filed by Newport Police Department (NPD) Officer Justin Shelton, one woman appeared to have more intentions than just hitching a ride when she reportedly jumped into an unsuspecting man’s vehicle on Saturday, April 13.

Shelton reports he was dispatched to Western Plaza in Newport regarding a woman trying to get into vehicles. He reports that when he arrived, he made contact with the driver of the vehicle and Dakota Dajui, 22. The 68-year-old driver told Shelton he was walking back to his vehicle when Dajui approached him asking for a ride. He reportedly told her “no” and that he didn’t know her. At that time Dajui opened the door to his truck and would not get out.

When Dajui was asked by Shelton why she was in the vehicle, he states she yelled “God” and told him she was “trying to make babies.” She was asked to exit the vehicle and reportedly began screaming “no.”

Shelton notes he could smell the strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from Dajui, who stated she drank “10 beers from Lacarretta.”

As she was considered a danger to herself and others in her apparently intoxicated condition, she was placed under arrest. It was not a clean getaway in more ways than one though as Shelton’s report states she proceeded to vomit in the backseat of his patrol vehicle.

She was transported to the Cocke County Jail Annex where, according to the report, she told jail staff that she was currently pregnant and didn’t care if her drinking hurt the baby.

The Cocke County Sheriff’s Office advised bond was set for Dajui at $500.
