    Group has raised nearly half of the cost for Cy Young and Woody Hayes mural

    Scott Hagan , know as the Barn Artist, will soon start painting the Cy Young and Woody Hayes mural at the Elk’s building on Main Street. Newcomerstown Now had hoped to have half of the $14,000 needed for the commissioned mural raised by the beginning of May. They are well on their way with $6,000.The group hopes to also raise funds with a two-day, elimination softball tournament to be held July 27-28, at Cy Young Park. Sixteen teams − each made up of six males and four females are needed. Team entry fee is $200, which includes a jersey and water for each player. Team sponsorships are $1,000 and include the business name on the team’s jersey, their logo on their sleeve and promotions throughout the games.     Learn about pollinators

    The next Adulting 101 class will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, at the library annex. The class will focus on pollinators and how they are not only beneficial to your garden but other plants as well. There are only fifteen spots open, so stop in the library to get signed up.

    Art sponsors sought

    Arts Center of Newcomerstown is looking for sponsors to help support art events for children at the Cy Young Park and Pool this summer. The event is open to grades K to 12 and the classes will include painting, drawing, photography, and various arts and crafts. A sponsorship is $75.     Activities at Cy Young Days

    Len Barker is be the honoree at this year's Cy Young Days Festival, to be held June 28-30, in Newcomerstown. He is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers. Registration for a cornhole tournament will start at 5 p.m. with play at 6 p.m. June 28, followed by live music from The Moonlyterz Band 8 p.m. Registration is $30 per team for the cornhole tournament. First place will receive $300, second place $200 and third $100.
