ENGADINE, Mich. (WLUC)—A late Engadine graduate was honored by his high school, which has named its science and technology wing in his honor. Friends and family of Ross Freeman gathered Monday night to honor his memory at Engadine Consolidated Schools. Pentland vs Newberry water fight is over
The years-long sewer litigation between Pentland Township and the Village of Newberry has ended. Honorable John Economopoulos, Circuit Court Judge, signed the final order of consent on March 20. The settlement agreement between the two municipalities was approved on March 14 at a special meeting of the Newberry Village Council. It had been a major topic at Newberry Village and Pentland board meetings for more than four years.

On Thursday, April 4, 2024 the Chippewa Luce Mackinac Conservation District held their 75th Annual Meeting at the Les Cheneaux Distillers in Cedarville, where they announced the recipients of their annual Land Steward of the Year and other awards. Following the awards there was a keynote address by Connor Crank, Project Administrator for the institute of Water Research at Michigan State University (MSU). The meeting also featured a buffet style baked chicken dinner and Director Election.
Be a citizen scientist on April 20
Want to spend a day as a wildlife biologist? Seney National Wildlife Refuge is hosting a BioBlitz on Saturday, April 20 and the public—especially those interested in photography and citizen science—is invited to participate. Anyone who is interested in participating in this project is asked to meet at the Temporary Visitors Center located at 1986 River Road in Germfask by 9 a.m. An orientation will be provided for participants before staff take groups out onto the refuge. The event continues until 3 p.m., when participants will meet back at the Temporary Visitors Center to share their findings.
Lady Indians duo among U.P.’s elite
