The New Jersey Devils have resigned Nathan Legare and Max Willman to one-year, two-way contracts.

The Devils acquired Legare after the NHL trade deadline in an AHL trade. He played in 15 games for the Utica Comets scoring two goals and three points. The former 2019 third-round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins is still attempting to find his scoring ability at the pro level.

The Canadian winger scored 106 goals and 225 points in 224 games in the QMJHL and scored four goals for Canada at the 2019 U-18 World Championship.

The 23-year-old will earn $775,000 at the NHL level and $85,000 at the AHL level. The announcement was made by President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald and Devils’ Assistant General Manager/Utica Comets General Manager Dan MacKinnon.

Willman split his time this season between the AHL and the NHL. He played 18 games for the Devils scoring three goals and four points. With the Comets, Willman scored 12 goals and 22 points in 33 games.

The 29-year-old was a former fifth-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres who has worked hard to earn the NHL games he's played in.

The contract details are as follows; $775,000 at the NHL level and $275,000 at the  AHL level with $300,000 guaranteed. The announcement was made by President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald and Devils’ Assistant General Manager/Utica Comets General Manager Dan MacKinnon.

These two-way contracts given out by the Devils will allow Willman and Legare to be sent up and down between the NHL and AHL without the use of waivers. They'll be available to play in the bottom six for the Devils if they face injuries as they did this past season.
