A University of Delaware student is facing multiple charges after police found a cache of drugs in his on-campus apartment, authorities said.

The Newark Police Department Street Crimes Unit was investigating drug sales in Newark, and the investigation led officers to Michael Glass, a 20-year-old UD undergraduate from Haworth, N.J., according to court documents.

Glass lives in the University Courtyard Apartments, located at the corner of Delaware Avenue and South Chapel Street. The apartments were built as a privately run student housing complex, but UD took over ownership several years ago and now operates it as apartment-style dorms.

Police worked with a cooperating witness, who met Glass at his apartment and bought marijuana, LSD, marijuana vapes and cocaine while officers observed from afar, according to court documents.

On April 25, Newark and UD police launched an early-morning raid on the apartment and found several types of drugs in Glass’ bedroom, including nearly a pound of marijuana, over 250 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, multiple dosage units of LSD, marijuana vape pens and marijuana edibles. They also found drug paraphernalia, including marijuana bongs and bags with cocaine residue, according to court records.

Glass initially told police that he was holding the drugs for someone else, whom he declined to identify. Court records indicate that in a second interview, he admitted to selling drugs and said he was doing it for another person as part of a 60/40 profit share arrangement.

He claimed that he only sold to friends and explained that he accepted payment through electric payment apps rather than cash.

Glass was arrested and charged with five counts of possession with intent to deliver drugs and related offenses. He was released on $52,300 unsecured bail.
