NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A 17-year-old girl was fatally stabbed under a 7 train stop in Sunnyside, Queens, on Wednesday night, police said as they questioned a young woman in the killing.

The teen and a woman, believed to be in her late teens, had been in a heated argument under the 46th Street–Bliss Street elevated station on Queens Boulevard shortly before 9:30 p.m., according to witnesses and police.

It wasn’t immediately clear what sparked the dispute or if the two knew each other.

Witnesses said they heard the two screaming loudly as the fight escalated. Then the older one took out a kitchen knife and stabbed the younger one in her neck, police said.

EMS rushed the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she was pronounced dead. She hasn’t yet been identified.

The suspected stabber fled up the subway stairs to a 7 train and rode it to the end of the line at Flushing–Main Street, where she was taken into custody by police officers, sources said.

She questioned by police throughout the night, according to the sources. No charges had been announced Thursday.

Police worked the crime scene overnight, and the area remained blocked off into Thursday morning as the investigation continued.

It’s just the latest violence involving young people in the city. On Tuesday afternoon, two teen boys were stabbed in Williamsburg. The victims, both 15, were hospitalized in stable condition. And on Monday afternoon, a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot in the head on Spring Street in SoHo. Suspects are still being sought in both of those cases.
