    Woman, 72, sucker-punched on Bay Ridge street

    NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Police are searching for a man accused of sucker-punching a 72-year-old woman on a Brooklyn street over the weekend.

    It happened just before 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, when the woman was walking in the vicinity of 4th Avenue and 96th Street in Bay Ridge.

    According to officials, the woman was approached from behind by the suspect who then punched her in the back of the head, causing her to fall to the ground.

    The suspect was last seen fleeing westbound on 97th Street on foot.

    The victim suffered bleeding and swelling to the head. EMS transported her to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition.
