Janelle Monae waltzed down the Met Gala red carpet on Monday at Metropolitan Museum in New York City wearing the Adore-701 clear platform slides from Pleaser.
“The Age of Pleasure” songstress has become recognized over the past decade for her bold shoe choices and outfits. For last year’s Met Gala, the singer hit the red carpet in black and white platform combat boots from Thom Browne . The shoes were constructed with high-shine black and white leather and consisted of sleek lace-up detailing, gold hardware and recognizable red, white and blue striped tassels, sitting atop a chunky white platform sole made from rubber. The mult-ihyphenate also prefers Marc Jacobs and Christian Siriano as some of her other favorite footwear designers.
For this year’s Met Gala, Monae paired her pleaser platforms with a stunning sheer avant-garde gown made with see-through fabric, a waist cutout and deep v-neckline.
About the shoes
The Adore-701 platform sandals are regarded as a popular footwear choice from Pleaser thanks to their cutting edge look and affordability. Designed in a peep-toe style, the shoes feature a 7-inch stiletto heel alongside a 2.75-inch platform in the toe box for a towering look. Made with vegan material, the platforms are also adorned with a thick clear strap on the upper, which in turn assists with creating a three-dimensional look. While Monae opted for the clear iteration of this shoe, multiple other colorways are available in the Adore-701 including Black and Clear/Rose Good. Pricing ranges between $50 and $65 depending on the color you select.
Known for their outstanding attention to detail, uncompromising design and unapologetic innovation, Pleaser is a brand that prides themselves on the concept of “fun footwear.” The brand carries a range of different shoe styles including boots, flats, pumps, sandals and more that embody their goal of incorporating quality, innovation, and diversity into every aspect of their products.
The Met Gala raises funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and celebrates the Costume Institute’s annual exhibits. This year’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” celebrates the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit. The 2024 event is notably co-chaired by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
