MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — The Intrepid Museum is offering free movie nights this summer against the stunning backdrop of a New York City sunset.

The free summer series will kick off during Memorial Day weekend on May 24, with the screening of “Top Gun: Maverick.” Doors open at 7 p.m., and the movie will begin at sunset.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and blankets to watch on a huge inflatable screen. All the movies featured in the four-week series feature stories about “humankind’s exploration and fascination with the Moon.”

During the museum’s free Fridays, visitors can explore exhibits free of charge and enjoy after-hours programming.

Here is the lineup for this year’s Intrepid Summer Movie Series:

  • Friday, May 24: Top Gun: Maverick
  • Friday, June 28: Apollo 13
  • Friday, July 26: First Man
  • Friday, August 23: Moonfall
