WARSAW, Ind. (WSBT 22) — Warsaw’s Joey Rastrelli ran into track and cross-country by accident. "Freshman year, I didn't run cross country. I played soccer instead, and then I played basketball as well. I came into track and I was really just running just to stay in shape for those two sports," said Rastrelli.

Warsaw Takes First Place At Girls Track And Field Regional
There were a handful of local athletes that qualified for the state finals, but the big story coming out of the Kokomo Girls Track and FIeld Regional on Tuesday was the Warsaw Lady Tigers winning the meet to add yet another trophy to an already impressive season. 2025 Indiana edge prospect includes Vols in top eight
2025 edge prospect Mariyon Dye announced his top eight schools, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3. Tennessee, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue are Dye’s top eight schools. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound four-star edge prospect is from Elkhart High School in Elkhart, Indiana. Dye ranks as the No. 173 prospect in the class of 2025. He also ranks as the No. 16 edge prospect and No. 3 player in Indiana, according to 247Sports. Dye will officially visit Tennessee on June 21. He will also officially visit Purdue on May 31, Georgia on June 7, Ohio State on June 14 and Florida State on June 18. Tennessee offered Dye a scholarship on July 29, 2023. MIDDLEBURY — Elkhart's softball team will face defending state champion Penn for a sectional championship. The Lions earned that opportunity after posting an 11-2 win over Goshen in Class 4A sectional semifinal action on Wednesday at Northridge High School.

Hannah Zellers had four hits and scored four runs on Wednesday, as the Jimtown softball team topped Marian 13-3, in the Class 3A Marian Sectional semifinals. Kendal McPhee had three hits, including a homer, to back Zellers.
Pickleball Play At Kelly Park To Undergo No Changes For Now
The Warsaw Parks and Recreation Board has opted for the time being to take no action on changes to pickleball play at Kelly Park. At the board's meeting on Tuesday at Warsaw City Hall, resident Judy Heiman appeared again before the board. She lives near Kelly Park and had first complained at a meeting in September 2023 that the repetitive noise from pickleball play at the park affected her quality of life.
Warsaw Falls To Northridge 7-0 In Sectional Opener
With two wins over Northridge in the regular season already under their belt, the Northern Lakes Conference champions Warsaw Tigers needed to get a third one on Thursday night to keep their season alive in the first round of the IHSAA 4A baseball sectional at Penn High School. The Tigers were unable to get much going offensively, falling in the first round of the playoffs, 7-0 to the Raiders.
Softball Recap: Jimtown wins going away against Mishawaka Marian
Jimtown had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Mishawaka Marian Knights on Wednesday as the Jimtown Jimmies made off with a 13-3 win. The victory was familiar territory for Jimtown who now have six in a row.
Malloy, Coker and Yoder among regional standouts
GOSHEN — Elkhart's Max Malloy collapsed on the infield and stayed down for several minutes. He got up and quickly shook off a fourth place finish in the 3,200 and wanted some ice cream to end his day at the Goshen Regional.
