Car crashes into New Orleans’ Joy Theater ticket booth

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — A car crashed into the Joy Theater’s ticket booth on Thursday, May 2.

Officials with the New Orleans Police Department said that around 6:30 p.m. Thursday night, NOPD officers responded to a car crash at the intersection of Canal and Basin streets.

Detectives say a white Chevrolet Equinox had crashed into the Joy Theater.

Upon further investigation, officers said the driver of the Equinox was traveling north on Canal Street and ran a red light at the intersection of Basin Street.

They said that’s when the Equinox hit another vehicle and then crashed into the Joy Theater.

Both drivers in the incident had injures but refused treatment.

The driver of the Equinox was cited for careless driving, no registration, no insurance and disregarding a traffic signal.
