Ritchie’s Sydney Kopshina sets school record in pole vault
PARKERSBURG – Track is not necessarily Sydney Kopshina’s primary sport. Which makes what she is doing as a pole vaulter even more impressive. Friday at the Erickson Invitational, the senior from Ritchie County broke the school record formerly owned by Parkersburg South pole vaulting coach Kelli Barker. Kopshina cleared the bar with a winning height of 11 feet, 1.25 inches.
Pennsboro residents feel threatened as fines may be imposed for vacant structures
PENNSBORO, W.Va. — Pennsboro residents Pamela Yeater and Gene Dodd received letters from the City of Pennsboro threatening fines for their vacant dwellings, if the property owners took no action as outlined in the letters received. BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Samples tested by the Health Department found hazards in the individual wells of several residents outside of the city of Pennsboro and the town of Ellenboro. 18 of 22 samples tested positive for arsenic, 14 tested positive for lead, as well as one for methane gas.
