STORM WATCH: Scattered showers, severe storms possible in New Jersey on Memorial Day

Morning and midday fog lingers at the coast with a passing round of morning rain.

Thunderstorms take hold of NJ from 2 p.m. through about 7/8 p.m. These storms are capable of producing damaging winds (40-60 mph+), penny-sized hail, and a tornado cannot be ruled out.

Some thunderstorms can rotate as they arrive from the west over PA and into western NJ. They can be capable of producing a few tornadoes. This is an important detail that must be followed carefully. Any warnings should be heeded if they are issued.

Weather conditions improve after 8 p.m., but scattered showers linger into the overnight.

The weather improves significantly through the day tomorrow and it remains great through the rest of the week with warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine.
