A Canton Township man has been slapped with felony charges after he was holed up in a standoff with cops that stretched nearly a full day, authorities said. The man, identified as 39-year-old Scott Earl Hoover, is accused of barracading himself in his home with a handgun during a domestic dispute.

Bryan (16-5, 7-0) repeated as champion of the NWOAL, finishing two games ahead of runners-up Archbold (15-7, 5-2) and Wauseon (11-9, 5-2).

A tragic car accident claimed two lives and left another individual injured on a Michigan freeway early on Mother's Day. According to the Detroit Free Press, the incident occurred at approximately 3:20 a.m. on I-275 near Ann Arbor Trail when a southbound Ford Edge, driven by a 46-year-old woman from Jasper, swerved across the median.
Pedestrian dies after struck along Will Carleton Road
ASH TWP. — A Canton man died early Thursday after he was struck by a vehicle while walking along Will Carleton Road. Troopers from the Monroe Post of the Michigan State Police were dispatched at about 4:30 a.m. to a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Will Carleton Road near Port Creek Road, a news release from the post said. From evidence at the scene, troopers determined a black Lincoln passenger car driven by a 38-year-old man from Willis was traveling eastbound on Will Carleton Road and struck a 27-year-old man from Canton, who walking in the roadway.
