NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) – Spring sports are in full bloom, and New Haven boys track is off to a blazing start on the asphalt.

Last week, the Bulldogs captured a pair of team titles. First, New Haven rolled to back-to-back team championships at the Burris Owl Invitational in Muncie. That was followed up a few days later with a first place finish at Heritage High School’s Patriot Relays.

Following a fast start to the outdoor season, we’re proud to present New Haven boys track and field as your Optimum Performance Sports Team of the Week!

Several Bulldogs shined between the two meets last week. Tre Bates won the 100-meter dash at Burris and Heritage, while also dominating in the 4 x 100, 4 x 200 and 4 x 400-meter relays. Meanwhile, Kevion Mitchell took home top honors in the long jump at both meets.

Aaron and Alex Hoffer also dominated with individual titles at both meets. Aaron won the 300-meter hurdles at Burris, the 110-meter hurdles at Heritage while running with the 4 x 200, 4 x 400 and sprint medley teams. Alex won the 400-meter run at Burris, while also helping the 4 x 100, 4 x 200 and sprint medley teams.

New Haven looks to build on their strong start with upcoming meets against Huntington North, Leo and Bellmont. The NE8 conference meet is slated for Friday, May 3 at Columbia City, with the sectional meet on Thursday, May 16.
