Wire Reported Stolen from Irrigation Systems in Gallatin County
SHAWNEETOWN – The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office says it has taken several reports of wire being stolen recently from irrigation systems around the county. According to a post on the sheriff’s office Facebook page, some local farmers have told the sheriff they would provide $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of the wire thefts.
Creal Springs Woman Turns Self In On White County Warrant
A Creal Springs woman was taken into custody on a White County Warrant on Thursday. Officer George Spencer met with 38 year old Nina Overy in the lobby of the White County Sheriff’s Department who stated she wanted to turn herself in. The charge on the warrant was Failure to Appear for Domestic Battery. Bond on the warrant was set at $4,000 of which 10% had to be paid for her release. Overy was booked in the White County Jail. She paid $400 bond, a $75.00 Failure to Appear fee and a $20 booking fee and was released.
Farny Taken Into Custody On White County Warrant
On the morning of March 19th, Deputy Michael Brown with the White County Sheriff’s Department met with a Hamilton County Deputy and Jerrod Farny, 46, of Dahlgren, at Highway 14 and Highway 45 in Enfield. Farny had previously asked to turn himself in on a White County only warrant. Due to not being able to serve the warrant, Farny asked to be brought to White County to be taken into custody. While meeting with Farny at the Enfield intersection, the Deputy verified the warrant and the bond amount of $5,000, arrested him and transported him to the White County Jail. Farny was released into the custody of the White County Correctional Officers.
Fuel Tanks And Stands Reported Stolen In Enfield
On the morning of March 24, 73 year old William Lewis of Enfield spoke with White County Sheriff’s Officer George Spencer on the phone concerning a report of a theft that occurred at County Road 1900 North in Enfield. Lewis said at some point in the past approximately two to three weeks, two 500 gallon fuel tanks and stands were removed from the property without permission. Lewis said he didn’t know the approximate value of the fuel tanks and that there is a large amount of what he believes to be suspicious activity in the area. Lewis made a report about the theft, which was placed on file at the White County Sheriff’s Department. Officer Spencer said deputies would try to conduct extra patrols in the area.
Trailer Reported Stolen In Enfield
White County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Wicker went to Highway 14 in Enfield early Wednesday evening to speak with Cindy and John Williams about their trailer being stolen from their shed. Cindy described it as a 2005 Aluma single-axle trailer, and said her husband John bought the trailer new in 2005. Cindy also said the trailer wasn’t stolen on the property they live on, but the property they own to the west of them across the highway. She said that she was in the shed two weeks ago and the trailer was there, but when she went back to look today, it was gone. Cindy was unsure of the exact amount the trailer was worth, but she said it would take thousands to replace it. Deputy Wicker asked her if she wanted to sign a complaint for the theft of the trailer and she said she did. Cindy also provided the trailer registration and registration renewal card.

Harrisburg Woman Sentenced for January Arson in Gallatin County
SHAWNEETOWN – A Harrisburg woman was recently sentenced in Gallatin County Circuit Court to three and a half years in state prison for arson. The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page Wednesday that 39-year-old Jennifer Gibson was sentenced on March 20 for an arson she committed earlier this year on Saline Mine Road in rural Gallatin County.

Raybrun Arrested On White County Warrant
Officers with the Carmi Police Department arrested a Carmi man on a White County Warrant Tuesday morning. 47 year old Jeffrey Rayburn of Haley Drive was taken into custody at his residence. Rayburn was wanted for Battery and Disorderly Conduct. He was booked in the White County Jail where bond was set at $250. He paid bond and was released about an hour later.

The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team fell at home Thursday afternoon to North Clay by a final score of 5-4 in 8 innings. Carmi fell behind early as North Clay scored 3 times in the top of the first. The Bulldogs would answer with 2 in the bottom of the first, but would trail 4-2 until the 4th inning when Mitchel Edwards scored on a sacrifice bunt by Cade Allen, and Zack Roark scored on a sacrifice fly from Merrick Millhorn, tying the game at 4-4.
First Bank Makes Threes for 3’s Donation to Unit 5
The 2022/2023 season was historic for Carmi-White County basketball as the boy’s team had near record wins for the program. First Bank has been making great things happen since 1893 and continues to do so through great partnerships in the communities they serve. This hoops season, First Bank teamed up with WRUL Sports in a buckets for buckets promotion. Norris City Man Arrested For Criminal Damage And Intimidation
A Norris City man is in custody after a complaint was signed against him in regards to criminal damage to property. On Friday March 24th, Officer Kody Jones of the Norris City Police Department was dispatched to 109 W 3rd where he spoke with Stephen Aud who stated that Jason Cannon of Norris City had told an individual he was going to bust in doors and windows of Aud’s residence. Aud said he arrived home from work and notice that the door on his garage as well as the front door of his residence had been kicked in. Officer Jones noted that he found a baseball bat next to the garage door as well as 2 bottles of Bud Light on the ground.
Rose Arrested For Domestic Battery
A call in regards to a domestic dispute landed a Carmi woman in the White County Jail where she is being held pending the setting of bond. At a little before midnight Saturday, officers with the Carmi Police Department responded to the call on Seventh Street and arrested 50 year old Kimberly Rose for Domestic Battery. Rose appeared in court this morning however court records have not yet been updated.

Kuykendall Arrested For Disorderly Conduct
A Crossville woman was arrested on Friday for Disorderly Conduct following multiple calls to the White County Sheriff’s Department. At around 7:30 PM Deputy Simmons was dispatched to 105 E Rudolph Street in reference to 41 year old Miranda Kuykendall of Winkler Street causing a disturbance. Prior to arrival Simmons spoke on the phone with Jessica Harris who told Simmons she was sitting in her home when she heard someone banging on her neighbors door and screaming loudly. When asked if she wanted to sign a complaint Harris stated that she did not. Upon arrival Simmons spoke with Jessica and Hovey Harris who stated that Kuykendall left in her vehicle speeding and slinging rocks. When asked about damage, Hovey stated that nothing had been damaged. At this time Jessica Harris stated that she wanted to sign a complaint against Kuykendall.

Residents concerned after racial slur written in front of Posey Co. church
MT. VERNON, Ind. (WFIE) - The Mount Vernon Police Department is investigating after a racial slur was written on the street in front of a church. On Sunday, the church’s pastor and a nearby neighbor discovered the racial slur had been written on the street just in front of where they worship.
