Pair of Sentences Handed Down in Wayne Co. Court Thursday
Judge Valentine in Wayne County Court handed down a pair of sentences on Thursday. 37-year-old Amanda M. Scott of Fairfield pled guilty on a charge of unlawful possession of meth. As a part of the plea, 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance, 2 counts of possession of meth, a count of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a cancelled, revoked, or suspended registration were dropped. Scott will serve 2 years of probation and pay court costs of $5259.

Dozens Show Up for Shawneetown Regional Port Authority Meeting
The players include the Shawneetown Regional Port Authority, the Village of Old Shawneetown, Scates Group Intermodal River Terminal (SGIRT), Viserion Grain, and State Senator Dale Fowler. Residents of the riverside hamlet are accusing the Port Authority of attempting a land grab they say robs them of the only asset they have left. It all came to a head Thursday night at a Port Authority public meeting. At issue, the proposed lease agreement between the Port Authority and “Old Town”. Members of the Port Authority say they reached an impasse and were forced to seek legislation that would circumvent the village. Old Town Mayor Bill Barton says the Port Authority has put a gun to the town’s head and placed it between a rock and a hard place.
Criminal Damage to Solar Farm
An attempted theft and criminal damage occurred at a solar farm in Carmi on February 21st. Caleb Johnson, who works for the PER MAR Security Service, called a report to the White County Sheriff’s Office and stated that he noticed a large black power cable lying in the roadway. The cable was about 200 feet long and had been cut on both ends. Johnson also indicated that he had been in that area an hour earlier and that the cable was not in the roadway.

Zina Thomas was charged in a criminal complaint filed in the United States District Court for her role in a fraud scheme that stole houses from dozens of Detroiters.
