Police investigating after man found dead on back porch

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) — New Castle police are investigating after a man was found dead on a porch with a gunshot wound to the chest Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, officers were called to the 1400 block of East Washington Street for reports of gunfire in the area around 4:15 p.m. When officers got to the scene, they found a man on the back porch of a house with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. He was dead when police arrived.

Officers say they believe there was a gunfire exchange between the victim and at least one other shooter in the alleyway behind the home on Washington Street. No leads or suspects have been given out at this time.

Detectives are in the process of investigation the crime scene and conducting interviews. The investigation is active.

The victim’s identity has not been released.
