MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Texas man drowned Sunday while swimming in a river in Poinsett County, Arkansas, county authorities say.

The victim was identified by the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Department as Justin Leigh Pool, 32, of New Boston, Texas. Poinsett County responded to a 911 call at 7:27 p.m.

Pool and four other males were swimming in the river near Rivervale when the current pulled him under the water. Other swimmers tried to save him but were unable.

His body was recovered around 9:15 and sent to the state medical examiner. No foul play is suspected, authorities said.

“We are grateful to all the departments and individuals who assisted in the recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with Justin Pool’s friends and family,” the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

Last June, a 17-year-old from Marked Tree drowned in roughly the same area near Rivervale.
