As the school year winds down, the editorial staff of The Colgate Maroon-News work tirelessly to bring their readers the latest stories and happenings on campus. Every Tuesday, members of staff spend several hours in the office located on the third floor of Colgate University’s James C. Colgate Hall, working hard to create each issue. While the staff fondly reflects on the high-quality stories published every week amidst the meticulous editing, chasing down of sources, fine-tuning of layouts and overall chaos of student journalism, music comes to the rescue by keeping spirits high and productivity flowing.
Colgate Live Music Collective Welcomes Colombian Folk Artist Mónica Giraldo to Hamilton
Colombian folk musician Mónica Giraldo performed at Flour & Salt Café on Thursday, April 25, bringing an opportunity for members of the community to appreciate and bond over a style of music not often available in Hamilton, N.Y. The concert, sponsored by the Colgate University Live Music Collective (CLMC), started around 8 p.m. and lasted approximately an hour, though many of the attendees stayed later to talk both to Giraldo and with one another.
Dancefest Kicks off Springfest 2024 With Enthusiastic Student Performances
Dancefest is one of the most exciting and beloved traditions at Colgate University. It is a chance for students of all backgrounds to express themselves creatively for an audience that is eager to appreciate the talent of their peers. On Friday, April 26, over 100 students came together to continue the tradition and kick off Springfest with 30 incredible performances and an opening number to Hannah Montana’s “Hoedown Throwdown.”
