Morgan Wallen is expected to appear in court when his chair-throwing case picks back up in August (unless it’s settled before then).

As People reports, Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, appeared on the musician’s behalf at a hearing in Nashville on Friday, May 3. The court had waived Wallen’s right to appear at the largely procedural hearing, where the charges against him were discussed and a next court date was scheduled for Aug. 15.
“This is obviously a very complicated case and it’s not going to resolve itself without subpoenas and witnesses,” Robinson told reporters. “We’ll work on the case on our end, and then Morgan will be here on Aug. 15. Several things can happen — we might have a hearing, we might settle the case, or the case might be continued. Those are the options.”
Wallen has not entered a plea in the case yet, with Robinson noting, “We’re not required to enter a plea of any type.”

Back in April, Wallen was booked on three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one disorderly conduct misdemeanor after allegedly throwing a chair off the sixth-story roof of Eric Church’s new bar and honky-tonk, Chief’s. According to an arrest report, the chair landed on the street right next to a group of Nashville cops. When asked about the incident, staff at the bar pointed the finger at Wallen, and authorities reportedly also saw a video of Wallen “lunging and throwing an object over the roof.”
Wallen was released on a $15,250 bond, and about a week later he addressed the arrest on social media: “I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility,” he said. “I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe. Regarding my tour, there will be no change.”
To that last point, while Wallen didn’t appear in Nashville court today, he will take the stage at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium tonight for his second of three shows there. He has additional dates scheduled throughout North America this summer, plus a July 4 concert in London .
