A digital analysis of the largest lyrics database showed that out of all the cities mentioned in songs, Nashville is the second-most mentioned city of all time.

The world's biggest collection of lyrics, Genius, houses millions of songs. One company, Casino.org , scraped the lyric collection to determine which cities are mentioned the most. They also dive into which artists are the ones singing about each city.

Tennessee cities take the top two rankings for most-mentioned cities in lyrics.

What city is mentioned in songs the most?

Memphis, Tennessee ranked first nationwide with 1,172 songs mentioning Bluff City.

Memphis, known for its vibrant rap and hip-hop scene, is shown a lot of love from its artists in song.

Rapper Juicy J, who hails from North Memphis, mentions the name the most in 54 songs.

Perhaps the song "Memphis Made Me" by Juicy J comes to mind, where the rapper says, "Memphis was the case that they gave me / Ridin' ’round my city like it's game three."

How many times is Nashville mentioned in lyrics?

Nashville, Tennessee ranked second overall with 1,154 songs referencing Music City.

Rapper and singer-songwriter Ryan Upchurch , a Nashville native, sings and raps about the city the most. He has mentioned Nashville in 36 songs.

In the song " Do Som'n Bout It ," Upchurch says, "Roots run deep, still standin' where I stood / I'm a Nashville Tennessean."

Some other famous Nashville lyrics include Jason Aldean's "Crazy Town," where he sings, "Roll into town, step off the bus / Shake off the ‘where you came from’ dust / Grab your guitar, walk down the street / Sign says Nashville, Tennessee.”Waylon Jennings' "Nashville Bum" has also become a classic for Tennesseans. He sings, "I’ve been chasin’ the big wheels all over Nashville / Waitin’ for my big break to come / Livin’ on ketchup soup, homemade crackers and Kool-Aid / I’ll be a star tomorrow, but today I’m a Nashville bum.”Tim McGraw's love song "Nashville Without You" is another ode to the city and the people who make it.

The song goes, “Hey, 'Blue Eyes Cryin’ in the Rain' / Hey, fire burnin’ round the ring / Hey, 'Crazy,' you know it’s true / That Nashville wouldn’t be Nashville without you.”

What other cities are mentioned the most in lyrics?

While Memphis and Nashville take the top two spots, cities in California, Colorado and Florida are also heavily mentioned.

San Francisco, CA takes spot three with Watsky mentioning it the most.

Miami, FL takes spot four, bolstered by rapper Drake.

And the fifth spot goes to Las Vegas, NV, most mentioned by rapper Rick Ross.

What musical artists mention cities in their lyrics the most?

While Juicy J, Upchurch, Watsky, Drake and Rick Ross invoke the names of the top five cities the most often, some other artists are quick to rep their cities, too.

Future likes to shout out Boston, MA, 50 Cent raps about New York, Gucci Mane mentions Atlanta and Tampa and Lil Wayne shouts out New Orleans.

Meek Mill likes to rap about Philadelphia, Kevin Gates about Denver and Baltimore, and Big Sean mentions Detroit.
