Former Tennessee Vols QB Jarrett Guarantano gets bad news after second UFL start

Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Jarrett Guarantano received some not-so-great news this week after starting the first two games of the season for the UFL's Houston Roughnecks.

Guarantano, who played at Tennessee from 2016 to 2020, left the Roughnecks' game against the DC Defenders on Sunday after suffering an injury.

According to Pro Football Newsroom's James Larsen, Guarantano will miss at least the next month due to a neck injury he sustained in Houston's loss to the Defenders.

Guarantano completed 3-of-8 passes for 23 yards before exiting the game. The former Vol completed 16-of-21 passes for 157 yards and added a 22-yard rushing touchdown in the season-opener the previous weekend.

Guarantano took to Instagram to address the injury on Monday.

"Injuries stink but I’m grateful for it all," wrote Guarantano.

The Roughnecks' regular season runs through June 2, which means Guarantano should have a decent chance to return to the field before the end of the season.
