Tennessee Vols senior offensive lineman Cooper Mays joined On3's Andy Staples for a chat on Thursday and he told a hilarious (and disgusting) story involving former UT quarterback Hendon Hooker.

Staples asked Mays about the moment in the Vols' win against Alabama in 2022 when Tennessee offensive lineman Jeremiah Crawford puked on the field in front of a Crimson Tide player.

Staples asked Mays if he was caught off guard by Crawford's brief vomiting session.

Mays, who noted that he was staring right at Crawford when it happened, told Staples that didn't surprise him at all because it happens often thanks to Tennessee's up-tempo offense.

In fact, Mays told Staples that he once puked on the football before snapping it to Hooker, who proceeded to complete a pass with the vomit-covered football.

"If you watch the clip, I'm facing right towards him (Crawford)," said Mays. "I didn't react. It's not because I didn't see it. It's just because I wasn't really surprised. We've all kind of been there. I mean, there were days -- I remember back in the day, it was so bad transitioning to the (up-tempo) offense, I had thrown up on the ball one play and had to snap it back to Hendo (Hooker). Hendo, you know, being the pro he is, he didn't skip a beat. So he had a great ball in play."

Mays said he couldn't remember if Hooker said anything after the play because it was several years ago. Either way, it had to be disgusting for Hooker, who didn't wear gloves during his time at Tennessee, to receive a puke-covered ball on the snap. At that point, though, the damage was done. So Hooker did the only thing he could -- he made the play (as he so often did at Tennessee).

Throwing up on the field is apparently just part of the experience of playing in a Josh Heupel-led offense.
