Couple charged with dealing fentanyl-laced pills
ELKHART — An Elkhart couple are accused of dealing fentanyl pills following an undercover investigation. Penny Walters, 37, and Anthony Picard II, 36, were arrested Tuesday and charged with dealing fentanyl, a Level 2 felony. Picard also faces a Level 2 felony count of dealing a narcotic drug with enhancing circumstances and Walters is additionally charged with dealing narcotics as a Level 3 felony.

ISA Scholarship Winner
The Indiana Sheriff’s Association recently awarded 40 $750 scholarships to high school seniors across Indiana. Addison Mehlberg, 18, Leesburg, a senior at Warsaw Community High School is one of the scholarship recipients awarded by the Indiana Sheriff's Association. She will be attending Ball State University in Muncie, where she will study criminal justice/criminology. Her parents are Scott and Stacey Mehlberg, Leesburg. ELKHART — After just five days of closure, a half-mile stretch of Johnson Street is back open – a pilot project designed to maximize efficiency and lower costs. Work on the pavement improvement project took two days, but rain prevented work from being done on multiple days throughout the week.

Plymouth senior Sophie Wray was a triple winner and qualified for the Kokomo Regional in four events Tuesday night at the IHSAA Girls Track & Field Bremen Sectional. Wray won the 1,600-meter run (5 minutes, 11.61 seconds), the 800 (2:23.39) and the 3,200 (11:34.18) and was a member of Plymouth's third-place 4x800 relay team. The top three finishers in each event move on to regional.

ETNA GREEN — Multiple residents shared concerns over speeding and the placement of a four-way stop sign and speeding in town. At the Etna Green Town Council’s meeting Tuesday, the council announced discussed plans to place a four-way stop sign at Walnut and Spring streets. According to the town’s lawyer, Nick Jacobs, a previous ordinance for a stop sign at the street was still on the books, and a hearing wasn’t needed to place another one there.
