No new trial for man convicted in fatal dispute over truck, appellate court rules
JACKSON COUNTY, MI – A man convicted of fatally shooting another man following a disagreement about a camper trailer and a truck will not be getting a new trial. The Michigan Court of Appeals affirmed April 25 the conviction of Darvin Cole, found guilty of manslaughter for shooting to death Scott Chuck Charles Aug. 6, 2021, in Blackman Township.
If you see jets following planes over southern Michigan, don’t be alarmed
Southern Michigan residents should not be alarmed if they see a fighter jet closely following a civilian aircraft Monday morning. The Ohio Air National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing is conducting an air defense training exercise in the skies over northern Ohio and southern Michigan Monday, April 29. Fighter jets are being scrambled to intercept and follow another aircraft, according the Ohio Air National Guard Public Affairs Office.
Jackson College Prepares To Celebrate Commencement Saturday
Jackson College file photo. To provide an opportunity for all family and friends to see their graduates, the College will host two ceremonies this year. In the morning, Health, Business and Computer Technology and Human Services Pathways students will graduate; in the afternoon, Liberal Arts, STEAM and Skilled Trades Pathways students will graduate. Students completing their graduation requirements for fall 2023, spring or summer 2024 are invited to participate in commencement. Jackson College expects about 300 to participate or “walk” in the commencement ceremonies, with many more – over 500 — eligible for graduation.
