Margaritas, tacos, more: How to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Naples, Fort Myers, Bonita

    By By Hannah Holmes,

Before sipping that a margarita or ordering that burrito for Cinco de Mayo , learn more about why the day is remembered.

Many will celebrate Sunday, May 5, but the day honors Mexican-American culture and the holiday that commemorates Mexico's unlikely victory against the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

Mexico defeated French troops in a small Mexican town called Puebla, where 2,000 Mexican soldiers faced 6,000 French troops at daybreak. Mexico claimed victory by nightfall.
