Hilo Lagoon Centre Receives State Commendation Marking 55-Year Legacy
The Hawaiʻi State House of Representatives has formally recognized the Hilo Lagoon Centre for 55 years of hospitality, history, and community contributions in East Hawaiʻi. State Rep. Sue L. Keohokapu-Lee Loy presented an official certificate of recognition on behalf of the State House to Building Manager Kelly Dewey, Board Member Allen Chinn, and Landscaping Committee Member K.T. Cannon-Eger. The commendation commemorates the landmark property’s 55th anniversary and acknowledges its deep roots in Hilo’s cultural heritage.

Aggressive shark spotted at Maili Beach Park
MAILI, Hawaii (Island News) -- Lifeguards posted warning signs at Maili Beach Park after an aggressive shark was seen near a surf spot at the beach on Tuesday afternoon. The shark sighting was confirmed by Honolulu Ocean Safety lifeguards prompting an alert about an 8 to 10-foot shark at the surf spot Tumbleland at the beach park at 3:13 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
