Suspect arrested for Walnut Creek murder

(WALNUT CREEK, Calif.) Police have arrested a 63-year-old suspect in connection with the Monday homicide at Civic Park, Patch reports.

According to Walnut Creek police, suspect Mark Banducci was identified, with the help of a witness, as the prime suspect in the early Monday homicide.

Officers were notified at 5:35 a.m. of an injured man in the Civic Park gazebo. Upon arrival, they found a man unconscious with a head injury.

Paramedics were called and the victim was taken to the hospital but he later succumbed to the injuries.

Plain clothes officers located Banducci walking on Contra Costa Boulevard near Crescent Drive in Pleasant Hill and took him into custody.

Banducci was booked for murder at the Martinez Detention Facility and is being held on a $1 million bail, according to police.
