(HAYWARD, Calif.) The Parkview Healthcare Center in Hayward has been fined $67,000 for COVID-19 violations, including 14 COVID-related deaths, KTVU reports.

Cal-OSHA issued the fine Wednesday against Parkview Operating Company, which operates the the skilled nursing home, due to the COVID-19 outbreak at the facility and the discovery of numerous deaths since February.

The facility has also been sued by patients and their families for alleged neglect.

An audit was carried out by Cal-OSHA's compliance officer Wendy Hogle-Lui in July, in which she concluded that the facility failed to properly maintain equipment and sanitation while maintaining a staff that hadn’t been properly trained.

In addition, the facility didn’t provide separate air filtration and ventilation for residents at the facility who had tested positive for the virus.

Staff evaluations to determine if personnel working at the facility knew how to operate ventilators were never administered.
