    San Jose police arrest homicide suspect after hours-long standoff

    (SAN JOSE, Calif.) A homicide suspect was taken into custody Thursday morning after barricading himself in a San Jose home for several hours.

    The suspect was taken to a hospital for a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to NBC Bay Area.

    Police said they evacuated residents in the area of North Fourth Street.

    The scene was the same area authorities discovered a man suffering life-threatening injuries from a shooting reported around 5:15 p.m.Wednesday in the 900 block of North Fourth Street.

    Police confirmed on Thursday morning that the victim had died.

    The fatal shooting is the city's 12th homicide of the year.
