    Man shot following attempted robbery

    (OAKLAND, Calif.) A man was shot early Wednesday after he refused to hand over his money during an attempted robbery, East Bay Times reports.

    The shooting happened in the 4000 block of 35th Avenue in the Redwood Heights area at approximately 12:18 a.m.

    Officers responding at the scene discovered a 43-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body.

    The victim told investigators that a man approached him when he was outside working on his car and demanded money. The suspect shot the victim when he refused.

    He was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition. Officers recovered some shell casings in the area.

    A $5,000 reward is being offered for any additional information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
