(PITTSBURG, Calif.) Pittsburg police are currently investigating a DUI crash that left a driver and a child dead Monday night, KRON4 reports.

The crash happened at approximately 6 p.m. near West Leland Road near John Henry Parkway, and involved two vehicles; a Toyota Corolla and a Chevy Camero.

Officers responding to the crash discovered that three children had been ejected from the Corolla. The driver of the Corolla died at the scene.

Medical care was provided at the scene to several people, while some were transported to a hospital by helicopter.

Three children were transported to a hospital where one of them later died.

Investigators say that both vehicles were driving in the westbound lanes of West Leland Road when the Camero hit the Corolla. The driver of the Corolla lost control and crashed into a tree.

Witnesses say the driver of the Camero was speeding before the collision.

The driver of the Camero was arrested for driving while under the influence.

“The names and ages of those involved are being withheld at this time pending family notification,” police said.
