    'Hamilton' coming to Broadway San Jose

    (SAN JOSE, Calif.) As COVID-19 restrictions start to ease, Broadway San Jose announced Monday that its new live season begins on Oct. 13 with “Hamilton", The Mercury News reported.

    The musical created by Lin-Manuel Miranda is based on Alexander Hamilton and America’s founding fathers.

    “We are so excited to welcome audiences back to San Jose’s Center for the Performing Arts for a season full of Broadway hits,” said Broadway San Jose general manager Gretchen Feyer, per the report.

    The hip-hop musical features a mostly minority cast is scheduled to play through Oct. 31 in the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts.

    People attending the show are required to wear a mask and officials say all 2,600 theater seats will be available.

    “We are working diligently behind-the-scenes to create and expand new safety protocols and on-site operations to ensure a positive experience for our patrons, staff, and cast and crew members," said Feyer, per The Mercury News.

    Other notable musicals for the new season include:

    • “Hairspray” (Nov. 23-28)
    • Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (Jan. 18-23, 2022)
    • "Tootsie” (April 19-24, 2022)
    • “Dear Evan Hansen” (June 18-19, 2022)

    Season ticket packages go on sale on May 3.
