Martial artists at Asians Are Strong rally teach self-defense to San Francisco community

(SAN FRANCISCO) Martial artists from different schools representing various disciplines gathered outside of San Francisco's City Hall on Sunday at the Asians Are Strong rally and martial art demonstration event.

Krav Maga, Wing Chung kung fu, muy Thai, jujitsu, judo and MMA were some of the disciplines on display at the event.

KTVU 2 reported the event was organized by Hudson Liao and friends in response to the deadly Atlanta area killings and local attacks on Asians.

Liao said community members expressed an interest in learning self-defense, so they came up with the idea of an event to help empower the community to combat violence themselves.

Demonstrators and speakers were there to show the community there are resources to help them learn to be less fearful.
