Myersville’s mayor and council are considering reinstituting a personal property tax to close a budget gap created by increased law enforcement costs and other expenses.

The cost of the town’s contract with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is increasing from the $130,000 allocated in the proposed fiscal year 2025 operating budget to $174,000, Town Manager Kristin Aleshire said during the council’s Tuesday evening meeting.
