MUSKEGON HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- One person was arrested after allegedly fleeing police who were breaking up a brawl in the Muskegon area over the weekend.

That's according to officials with the Michigan State Police Sixth District, which shared a photo of a firearm and ammunition seized from the suspect who was taken into custody Sunday evening, in Muskegon Heights.

According to MSP, troopers from the Grand Rapids post responded to Muskegon Heights to help out at the scene of a "large fight."

As troopers were helping break up the fight, MSP said one person fled from them on foot.

The person jumped over a fence and ran into a wooded area, where they were quickly caught and arrested by the troopers, police said.

MSP said the suspect was found to be carrying an illegal pistol, and was lodged at the Muskegon County Jail on multiple felony charges.

There were no reports of any serious injuries.

The person's name was not immediately released.
