Eric Hanson, who grew up in Sacramento, and his wife were living several years ago across the street from a Napa Valley middle school. “We had a split-rail fence around our house and the kids would wait outside for their rides to be picked up,” Hanson said. “One day she says, ‘There’s two boys sitting on the fence. This time, Hanson brought them chairs which they used the remainder of that school year. But Hanson got to thinking:i A bench might serve a better purpose. This realization has helped lead to the creation of a bench with life-size statues of 19th century author Robert Louis Stevenson, his wife Fanny Stevenson and their Irish setter cocker spaniel ChuChu. The bench, which is the work of Sacramento sculptor Garr Ugalde, will be dedicated Nov. 7, near where the Stevensons honeymooned in 1880 at the abandoned Silverado Mine. Jerry James Stone, a longtime food vlogger and influencer , announced that he has landed sufficient funding to launch a television show. He’s been developing the concept for over two years. The show evolved from a web series he created called “What Am I Even Eating?” Sponsored by California Grown , the short-form videos showcased the history, etymology, culinary function and production of major California-grown crops such as pistachios, olives and grapes. The new show, which as yet is unnamed, will be a practical guide to buying and cooking produce seasonally for health and financial security. “I will be producing 13 episodes of the show.
