    Docs: 2 Muncie men arrested after friend was stabbed 15 times during fight

    MUNCIE, Ind. — Two Muncie men were arrested in late April after a man was reportedly stabbed 15 times at a home in west Muncie during a fight with his friends.

    According to documents filed in Delaware County on Wednesday, 48-year-old Juan Gomez-Vasquez has been preliminarily charged with one count of attempted murder, a Level 1 felony, and one count of aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony.

    Another man, identified as 54-year-old Miguel Rodriguez-Vasquez, was charged with one count of aiding, inducing or causing an offense, a Level 1 felony, according to court documents.

    At around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Muncie police officers were dispatched to a home on Greentree Drive in reference to a stabbing. The person who was stabbed told dispatch through an interpreter that he had been stabbed in the side of his body with a knife by his friend.

    During the 911 call, the person who was stabbed reportedly told police that he got into a fight with his friend and his friend stabbed him. The person told dispatch that “he did not know why” he was stabbed.

    When officers arrived at the scene, they found a person who was “actively bleeding from numerous obvious wounds.”

    “Officers asked who stabbed him and the victim pointed to a male, later identified as Juan Gomez-Vasquez,” the documents said. “The victim pointed at this male and stated, ‘Mi Amigo.'”

    Juan Gomez-Vasquez, along with another man, later identified as Miguel Rodriguez-Vasquez, were found at the scene, The documents said that Miguel Rodriguez-Vasquez reportedly had “a large amount of what appeared to be blood on his clothing.” A large amount of what appeared to be blood was also on the floor and walls of the home.

    Both Juan Gomez-Vasquez and Miguel Rodriguez-Vasquez were detained at the scene. Officials said that both declined to cooperate with the investigation and provide any statement.

    The person who was stabbed was reportedly transported to a local hospital where he was found to have been stabbed around 15 times. Officials said that the person is currently in the intensive care unit after surgery.

    When police searched the home, the documents said that they reportedly found several trash bags and suitcases that included items that belonged to Juan Gomez-Vasquez, including:

    • Sandals with a pattern similar to the shoe imprints in the suspected blood inside the home
    • A U.S. Social Security card
    • Clothing with what appeared to be blood on them.

    Officials said a room inside the home was identified as being the possible location where the stabbing occurred. The documents said that bare footprints imprinted in what appeared to be blood were located on the floor. The documents also said that Miguel Rodriguez-Vasquez had what appeared to be dried blood on his bare feet and sandals.
