Day to Honor Our Loved Ones hits home for Janell Santana Sims
MAYBROOK – Janell Santana Sims lost her father, Oswaldo, to a fentanyl and tramadol overdose three years ago yesterday. To honor him, Sims and other advocates started the Annual Day to Honor Our Loved Ones in Walden. It serves an event to support those who have lost someone to a drug overdose and residents battling addiction.
Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Headlining Beacon, NY Literary Festival
The Beacon LitFest returns to the Howland Cultural Center for its second year with an impressive lineup of fiction writers, poets, memoirist and dramaturges. Jennifer Egan, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel A Visit From the Goon Squad, will headline the three-day festival, which runs from Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9.
