Mountain View Man Who Evaded Police Then Called for Their Assistance Charged With Multiple Offenses
Hawai‘i Island police arrested and charged 30-year-old Terran Kaleiwahea Jr., of Mountain View with various property and drug-related offenses after fleeing from police. On Tuesday, May 30, Kona patrol officers responded to a report of a reckless driver traveling south on Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway, near Kaiminani Drive in Kailua-Kona and observed the vehicle traveling at high speed, weaving in and out of traffic. Officers later located the unoccupied parked vehicle off Hina Lani Street when they observed a male party in the distance running in thick brush.
Generosity of Hawaiʻi Drivers Supports Hawaiian Geese
If you paid a little extra for that Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park license plate at the Hawaiʻi Department of Motor Vehicles, you just helped support nēnē, Hawaiian endemic geese, at the park with a donation of $60,000, delivered recently by HPPA Executive Director Mel Boehl to the park’s Resources Management Division. The Nēnē Monitoring Program at the park will evaluate monitoring strategy and complete a monitoring protocol report. The plates program is administered by the DMV.
