Chipotle is preparing to open its newest restaurant in South Jersey.

Located at 3109 Route 38 in Mount Laurel, the popular fast-casual Mexican chain is set to begin serving up its customizable burritos, tacos, salads and bowls May 14.

The eatery used to be a Burger King restaurant. It features a “Chipotlane” a drive-thru lane that lets customers pick up digital orders without leaving their cars.

Following its May 14 grand opening, Chipotle will be open daily from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Founded in Denver, the Newport Beach, Calif.-based brand’s nationwide footprint of 3,500 restaurants includes more than 90 locations in New Jersey. The upcoming restaurant will be Chipotle’s second outpost in Mount Laurel.

Since introducing Chipotlanes at some restaurants in 2018, the offering is now available at more than 800 stores and counting across the U.S. In New Jersey, the feature is available at 22 other Chipotles, such as Phillipsburg , North Brunswick, Burlington, Paramus, Toms River, Forked River, Manahawkin, Edison, Shrewsbury, Watchung and East Windsor.

Hiring efforts are also underway for the restaurant, according to Chipotle.

Benefits include a crew bonus with the opportunity to earn an extra month’s worth of pay each year, a debt-free college program, English as a second language program and access to mental health care resources for employees and their families.

Editor's note: This story was updated at 2:47 p.m. ET May 13, 2024, to note Chipotle's updated headquarters and restaurant count.
