Wisconsin prison warden quits amid lockdown, federal smuggling investigation
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The warden at a troubled Wisconsin prison where multiple inmates have died over the last year will step down later this month. The Wisconsin State Journal reports that Waupun Correctional Institution Warden Randall Hepp announced his resignation on Tuesday. A state Department of Corrections spokesperson said Hepp is retiring. Four inmates have died at Waupun since June 2023. The state Department of Corrections imposed lockdown conditions at Waupun as well as prisons in Green Bay and Stanley last year due to a lack of guards, prompting a lawsuit by Waupun inmates alleging they’re being subjected to cruel and unusual punishment. Gov. Tony Evers’ office in March said federal authorities are investigating a possible smuggling ring at Waupun.

Sheboygan Police shoot stabbing suspect
Sheboygan, Wis. (WBAY) - A stabbing suspect was shot by Sheboygan Police Friday evening after running at officers with a knife. Friday around 5 p.m. the Sheboygan Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Michigan Avenue for a report of two men fighting. When they got on the scene, Officers found out that a 48-year-old Sheboygan man had been stabbed by another person living at the same apartment. Police say the suspect is a 32-year-old Sheboygan man.
Manitowoc County arson investigation leads to woman’s arrest for ‘intentionally starting house fire’
CLEVELAND, Wis. (WFRV) – An arson investigation culminated with a woman’s arrest following a Manitowoc County house fire earlier in the week in the Village of Cleveland. Deputies with the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office stated that an investigation into a house fire on May 26 in the 1100 block of Franklin Drive determined that the fire was intentionally started.

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A stabbing suspect was shot by Sheboygan police on Friday, May 31. It happened around 5:09 p.m. near 14th and Michigan. According to the Sheboygan Police Department, they responded to a report of two men fighting at a residence. Upon arrival, police say they discovered that a 48-year-old man was stabbed by a 32-year-old man.
