Creston woman booked on pair of charges
(Creston) -- A Creston woman faces a pair of charges following her arrest Thursday night. The Creston Police Department says 39-year-old Samantha Lynn Hayes was arrested shortly before 10:15 p.m. for domestic abuse assault 2nd offense and consuming an alcoholic beverage in a public place 1st offense. Authorities say the arrest occurred at 604 North Maple Street in Creston.

(Creston) A Creston Woman was transported to the hospital following a single-vehicle accident this (Thursday) afternoon. The Creston Police Department says a 1999 Cadillac DeVille was driven to a park in the historical village by a male and then he changed spots with the passenger, 73-year-old Clarina Lee. Lee was practicing to drive when she mistook the gas pedal for the brake.

(Creston) The Union County Sheriff’s Office arrested 46-year-old Hidie Ann Lemon, of Creston, on Tuesday on a felony warrant for Theft. Lemon was transported to the Adams County Jail where she was held on $27,000 bond.
Ridge receives final Lakin Outstanding Teacher Award of 2024
(Clarinda) -- A Clarinda band teacher has received the final Charles E. Lakin Outstanding Teacher Award. At a special ceremony Wednesday afternoon, Lakin Foundation and Green Hills AEA officials presented Clarinda 9-12 instrumental music instructor Courtney Ridge with the award and a $10,000 check. The Clarinda School District also received a $2,500 gift with the award. Following the ceremony, Ridge told KMA News she was shocked and honored to receive the recognition.
