    Motley City Council Briefs

    In other business Monday, May 13, the Motley City Council:

    • Approved Resolution 2024-11, naming Clerk-Treasurer Tami Brotherton, Mayor Pat O’Regan and Council Members Steve Johnson, Nikki Bjerga, April Skeesick-Larson and Dennis Erickson as authorized signers for banking transactions;

    • Approved Resolution 2024-12, appointing Brotherton as the responsible authority to administer the requirements for collection, storage, use and dissemination of data on individuals, government data or summary data within the City of Motley;

    • Approved Resolution 2024-13, accepting a donation of $50 from Billy and Kristie Haehnel in honor of Charles Tangen to be used in Veteran’s Park;

    • Approved a fireworks display permit for Motley Community Events Organization for Saturday, June 15 at dusk as part of JuneFest;

    Approved liquor license renewals for Bremer’s Bar Inc., H & R ten Hi Inc., Motley Discount Liquor Inc. and Y Knot Package Liquor;

    • Approved a three-year contract with Oracle to provide law enforcement software for $5,310;

    • Approved a letter of support to collaborate with the Region 5 Development Commission grant application for a 72 kilowatt solar energy system, which would cover a significant portion of the wastewater treatment plant’s energy needs. The City of Motley would contribute $54,000 and receive funding of $126,000 if the grant application is approved;

    • Approved the Morrison County 2024 Clean-Up grant agreement in which Morrison County provides $1,109.86 to the City of Motley to fund a clean-up day and 2024 recycling agreement letter of additional grant funding in which Morrison County provides $2,248.10 to the City of Motley to fund its recycling program;

    • Amended resolution 2024-10 and voided resolution 2024-7;

    • Approved a grant application to Sourcewell to fund the purchase of new computers to meet cybersecurity needs at the wastewater treatment plant;

    • Approved Brotherton to meet with an attorney to discuss how to obtain access to the Motley Police Department Facebook page, which is currently held by the former Motley police chief and inaccessible to current Police Chief Al Yoder;

    • Donated $550 to provide swimming lessons in Staples for children in Motley; and

    • Approved the forming of a committee to determine how City Hall should be rearranged and cleaned up.

    The next meeting of the Motley City Council is at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 10, in the Council Chambers at City Hall. A work session will precede the meeting at 4:30 p.m.
