PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Morton is the Mid-Illini Conference boys track and field champion for the first time since 1995.

Christopher Schaff won the 100 meters and anchored relay wins in the 4×100 and 4×200 to lead the Potters to the conference title Tuesday night. Morton, which hosted the meet, finished first with 155 points, Metamora’s 122 was good enough for second.

Christian Harris (1600 meters), Josh Weeks (3200) and Andrew McLaughlin (110 hurdles) were also champions for Morton. The Potters 4×800 relay team opened the meet with a win.

Elsewhere, Eureka edged Ridgeview-Lexington for the Heart of Illinois Conference boys track and field title. The Hornets winning margin was 151-147.5.

Morton, Richwoods, U-High, Dee-Mack and Illini Bluffs were among the baseball winners. East Peoria and Metamora, the top two teams in the Mid-Illini, both won.

Morton’s 5-0 win over Washington clinched an undefeated Mid-Illini Conference title for the Potters.
