Over $18,000 worth of items stolen in Melville burglary
Authorities said, based on what they've gathered so far in the investigation, a residence located at 729 Jackson Lane was broken into, and multiple people could be involved, including one suspect at large who has been identified as 32-year-old Rodney Sanders of Melville.
Bunkie police searching for wanted fugitive
BUNKIE, La. (KALB) - The Bunkie Police Department is asking for help in locating a wanted fugitive. Officers were dispatched on May 28 to South Mable Street in reference to a wanted fugitive, identified as Jonathan Taylor Lang, who was at a residence in the area. Police spotted Lang running into the home when they arrived. They attempted to make contact with him, but he ran into a nearby shed.
Arrest made in Ville Platte drive-by shooting that sent victim to hospital
VILLE PLATTE, La. (KADN) — Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office said an arrest has been made in a drive-by shooting that left one man injured. Investigators said Bryson Fontenot, 25, of Ville Platte, was arrested on Tuesday, May 28, on a charge of attempted first-degree murder. His bond is set at $500,000.

Pedestrian killed in Avoyelles Parish hit and run crash
AVOYELLES PARISH, La. (KALB) - A pedestrian from Mansura was killed in a hit-and-run crash on May 31 around 4 a.m. on Hwy 107, according to Louisiana State Police. LSP said that Curtis Lavalais, 45, was hit by an unknown vehicle as he was walking in the southbound lane of Hwy 107, just north of Hwy 1191. Lavalais suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The unknown vehicle fled the area.
