Prep baseball: Hope Christian announces Roby Brooks as its baseball coach
Hope Christian Academy announced Monday that Roby Brooks will serve as the program's baseball coach. Brooks currently serves as the director of baseball operations of the Choccolocco Monsters, which plays its games at Oxford's Choccolocco Park as part of the Sunbelt Baseball League. He also serves as the CEO of Top Gun Baseball, a travel baseball organization.

In a research study conducted by GEEARS: Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students and the Metro Atlanta Chamber, more than a quarter of Georgia parents of children under five reported that they or someone in their family experienced significant disruption to employment—quitting, not taking, or greatly changing a job—due to challenges with child care.

NGTC Culinary Arts Students and Faculty recognized at Atlanta Chefs Association Presidential Gala
North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) culinary arts students and faculty recently earned top honors at the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Atlanta Chefs Association’s (ACA) Presidential Gala held at Ansley Golf Club in Atlanta. Diane Rucker, culinary arts student of Hartwell, Ga., received the Student Chef of the Year award, marking the third consecutive year an NGTC student has received this honor. Chefs Alexander and Christopher Bladowski, NGTC culinary arts instructors, both earned the Presidential Award for their dedication to education in Georgia and outstanding service to the chapter. In addition, NGTC culinary arts students Ramon Fuentes of Alto, Ga., Victor Sharpe of Mount Airy, Ga., Christina Smith of Mount Airy, Ga., and Rucker assisted with preparing a four-course meal for the event alongside Ansley Golf Club Executive Chef Shannon Farmer and Chef Christopher Bladowski. Christopher Bladowski currently serves as first vice president of the ACF-ACA chapter, while Alexander Bladowski serves as treasurer. “We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements at the Atlanta Chefs Association’s Presidential Gala,” said Christy Bivins, NGTC dean of academic affairs. “Christopher and Alexander Bladowski’s receipt of the Presidential Award is a testament to their dedication and leadership. Additionally, Diane Rucker’s recognition as Student of the Year highlights her hard work and exceptional commitment to her future career. Christopher and Alexander’s roles in the ACF demonstrate our students’ significant impact on the culinary community, and their volunteer efforts and passion for the profession exemplify the values NGTC strives to instill in our students.” “This was an amazing night,” said Alexander Bladowski, NGTC culinary arts instructor. “Both Chris and I were completely blindsided by the great honor of receiving the Presidential Award.
