Essay contest winners earn donations to Grundy County charities
Seven Grundy County students made their own grant donations to local charities on Thursday after winning the Community Foundation of Grundy County’s essay contest. Community Foundation of Grundy County Director Julie Buck said all third through 12th grade students in Grundy County were invited to write an essay, with third through fifth graders asked to write 100 words, sixth through eighth asked for 250 words and high school students asked for 500.
Morris Hospital names Kelley Smith the November Fire Starter of the Month
Minooka’s Kelley Smith, a senior financial analyst, has been named Morris Hospital’s November Fire Starter of the Month. Smith joined Morris Hospital in March 2019, and has since used her love for numbers to help strengthen the hospital’s financial stability. As a dedicated, professional, supportive team member, she makes a difference time and time within her department and throughout the organization using her natural inclination for helping others. In appreciation of her vast contributions, Smith was recognized as Morris Hospital’s November Fire Starter of the Month.
